I grew up in Penticton, B.C., where I loved swimming, reading, and eating fruit. I attended the University of British Columbia for two years and then worked in the university library for four years.
In 1973, I moved to the Yukon and later to Alaska with my first husband. There, I learned how to build log houses and lived without running water, electricity, or a telephone. I discovered that a good stove and a stack of books can carry you through the long, dark winters. We also had two adventurous chickens who were part of our journey.
In 1992, our family moved to Lopez Island, where we built another log home on the south end of the island. In 1997, I moved to Bellingham and earned my real estate license five months later. I have never looked back.
Real Estate Focus: Residential and multi-family properties
Community Involvement: Former board member of Lydia Place (3 years)
When I meet a new client, I always ask them to share their story. It helps build trust and leads to better relationships. I love seeing a buyer’s body language when they find the house. Homes sell themselves—we’re just the facilitators. And when we do our job well, we often make friends for life.
